Preventing auto mounting/pop-up

Got this Huawei mobile modem sitting in the usb port, but everytime the computer is started it's contents with the installer pops up in a Finder window. Is there any way to disable this in osx?
The modem seems to work after unmounting it, so a way to disable automounting would be ok too.
