Hi everyone,

need some help. I have recently done a complete clean install of Leopard. Ever since however, I somehow get two separate instances of Preview.app showing up in my doc when opening pdfs or photos. I only have one preview app in my applications folder and there doesn't seem to be a second one anywhere else. It is almost like in Windows when you have two of the same app running at the same time.

Any ideas?

Okay, I'm trying to visualize what you are saying, are you saying that when you click on a PDF or JPEG that Preview's icon appears in the dock? Does it go away when you quit the PDF or JPEG?

ok... this doesn't happen all the time, but this is what generally happens.

1. I open a pdf file and preview opens.
2. Preview.app icon goes into the dock.

3. I open another pdf file and a 2nd copy of preview opens.
4. A 2nd preview.app icon goes into the doc.

5. so now there are 2 preview.app icons in the doc side by side.

some more details.

the second instance opens up when "right click" on a file inside an email from within mail.app. Then the list of applications of "open with" has more than one instance of preview.app?

this is screwy.
