Im having problems with the Preview app.

I recently attended an Apple workshop where the trainer showed us how to add your signature to the bottom of emails etc.

Basically you take a photo of a hand written signature using the Preview App. When opening preview a small box appeared with the instruction to hold up a piece of paper with your written signature on, then it takes photo and stores it as an image.

But when i open up preview I either get the 'Finder' window opening...

Any ideas where i'm going wrong please?

On Mountain Lion, I opened a pdf file and picked annotate. I found that signature was greyed out. I then went to preferences and there is a signatures icon but again it was greyed out. I clocked it and there was a nice big button for "create signature..."

I've never tried to use this before so I don't know if it was like this all along but at least in Mountain Lion, to use the signature feature, you must create one first in preview preferences. Preferences shows up when you click the apple logo in the menu bar.
