All of a sudden, I can't open a PDF with Preview -- or, for that matter, any other file type. If I go through the open dialog, all the files will be grayed out. All I see is a list of directories. If I open a document which has Preview set as it's application, Preview will launch, but no window will open.

I don't see any error messages in logs. I thought perhaps the app was corrupted so I copies one from another Mac. It is the same version and build of Preview, 4.2 / 469.5 and behaves in exactly the same unexpected way when run on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.8. Adobe Reader works fine with PDFs, but is way too much overhead most of the time.
