preview - continuous + auto size

I would like to open pdf files in preview with the "continuous" and "auto size" options on by default. Does anyone have an idea on how to go about doing this? There's an auto-scale option in preferences, but I can't figure the continuous part out.

In Preview, select View>PDF Display>Continuous

For a follow-up... how do I get this to be the default in safari as well?
