Preview does not display .jpg

OK on my old Powerbook G4 clicking on an image would "display" a jpg or other image file via "preview". On my brand new Blackbook it does not, "preview is launched" but no image is displayed. I can open the files via a browers etc...

The answer is late but for all others. This problem might be because the JPEG file was created by the old computer's admin user. If you transfer it the new computer's user is not the same. Before transfer chmod +rw all JPEG files to set permissions for everyone to view file.
