Am I an idiot or can Preview not do the simplest thing imaginable like play a .gif?

I know, at least at one time, you could play .gif files in Preview, but this isn't the case anymore.

I have not found out how to do it in Preview, but you can play it in Quicktime, just drag it into the Quicktime icon and press play.

They dropped that feature so you can't. I'd like to see it back.
I believe they dropped it after Panther? Someone else can verify that though.

Yeah I think you're right. It just seems like such a simple thing to have I don't know how they could have missed it.

Correct...they got rid of it. I just drag them onto Safari when I want to see them, since that's usually open anyway.

Cool, but it's still dumb that you have to do that. Preview can do a lot, you'd think it could play back a simple .gif file.
