Preview in Lion

I often find myself opening images in Preview only to save them in another format. Most often, I compress an image in JPEG. I've noticed that the version of Preview in Lion no longer includes a size estimate when adjusting the slider that indicates the amount of compression to be applied to the image. Has anyone found a way to get the size estimate back? Thanks.
