I'm in the process of redesigning the middle school I work at's website. This is my first iWeb project and it's coming along quite well. I'm wondering if there is a simple way to preview the site as if I were viewing it in a browser. I've tried searching but it wasn't much help. I came across something about publishing to a folder? But I don't see that option in iWeb '09. Perhaps that was info for an older version? I know nothing about how to actually get the site up on the Internet yet. For now I'm just working on the design, and when that's done I'll get with the tech specialist to actually get it online.

I really don't recommend something like iWeb for a school web site. It's simply not the right tool, especially considering you haven't done a web site before.

As far as previewing, the publish to folder is the way to go and does exist in your version. In the left side bar, click on the top item, "Site" and it will show you options on the right panel. The drop box will allow you to choose publishing to a local folder.

Thanks. iWeb is fine for what we need for our website. We are a Mac district, so quite a few of our schools use iWeb. The school website is basically just an informational page for current events and stuff and a few sub-pages for staff, athletics, etc. Our District website is the big dog. They don't use iWeb.

Wait until you try viewing the web site in Internet Explorer. There's been a number of threads here with people having problems getting iWeb sites to show up correctly in IE, Firefox, and even Safari. Sometimes it's to the point that the site is unusable.
