Preview needs a fix!

Ahoy peeps

Once again I return to this forum for your much appreciated help
I have been having trouble with the Preview app! Here's the deal: since I've updated to OS Mojave with my MacBook Pro Retina (Mid 2014), which is obviously an older but still a fine working machine, I'm unable to select and thus do any further actions with text in PDF files... Super annoying.
Is there a way to fix this quickly and not do a complete OS reinstall? Would have to look into that honestly, how that would work, a reinstall. Hope for something less time consuming and headaching.

what are you trying to do? you can highlight text in a pdf, and copy it elsewhere (ie word, or pages). is this what you can't currently do?...

Does the pdf file you are working with have OCR? If not, you need to make it OCR first.
I have no problem with OCR pdf texts in Mojave. I can copy and paste into other programs.
