preview of audio in finder is distorted

when ever i view my folders in column view, and i get to an audio file, when i preview it it is EXTREMLEY loud and distorted (or maybe just too loud for my speakers). But when i open it in itunes or quicktime it plays at the right volume and everything. Anyone else ever heard of this?
