Preview of PDF in Alias

Hi all,

My PDF files show ok in finder with the preview of the cover... I would like to create an alias of a PDF file to place on my Desktop, however, when I do that, the alias file does not show the cover.. only the Preview icon with PDF.

Is there a way to have alias / shortcuts to show a preview of the files they point to?
