Preview of pix

i have the macbook 2010 edition... in the past when i saved a jpg to my desktop it would show the pic.. but now it just says jpg.. how do i fix this?

Open a new finder window. Click 'View' from the menu bar. Select 'Show view Options' and you'll get a window like the one in the image in my attached file.

Select 'Show Icon Preview'

Then select 'Use as defaults' (this will apply the settings to all folders)
