I want to scan pages from a book, save them to PDF, but instead of saving each page seperately can i just make a huge 20 page PDF

Going to have to scan individually, then compile 'em together once they are on your computer.

wait why does he have to save each individually before he can aggregate? I thought it depended on the scanner? namely, if it is a "one at a time" type scanner then I think you might be right, but if it is a scanner that is part of a fax or copier type system, then I thought it could work just fine? I hope I am right or else I feel really badly for my secretaries.

There are definitely scanners/photocopiers/fax machines hat can create a single multi-page document. However most of us don't have them at home...

Once you have the individual pages, you can join them with something like PDFLab http://www.iconus.ch/fabien/pdflab/
