Preview scrambling PDFs

Many times when I open a PDF in Preview lately it scrambles it unless I go to a lower magnification, at which point it will be fine. Oddly, random PDF files will display fine at any magnification level, while PDFs that Preview saves itself will be messed up.

Also, when I attempt to draw a selection box around ANYTHING in Preview, whether it be an image file or PDF, the same thing occurs.

I attached a screen grab to show you what I mean...
