Hello,
I am writing a document under Pages '09.
I needed to copy and paste selected parts of pdf documents into it using the Selection Tool. I simply copied and pasted selected areas using the selection tool.
The issue is that this maneuver in fact copies quite more hidden information than just the selected area within the rectangle and that explains why the "Pages" document has become very big even though I copied and pasted small areas of pdf.
When other user opened the document under Windows using Word and Acrobat, all hidden information revealed, that is if you click somewhere on the final pdf under Acrobat, there are hidden links to the information contained around the original rectangle selection!
And if you select the pdf and copy the content in notepad for instance, you get huge amounts of text which were "not" selected in the rectangle.
To make this a little bit clearer, this is a little bit like when one would crop an image and the discarded part still remains in the memory and is transferred if copied into another document.
Thank you so much for telling me whether there is a way to discard these hidden parts under Preview or even better if there is way to copy and paste "only what you see" with Preview and Pages.
(not using the screen shot maneuver..)
