I have decided to share a fix for a problem i have been trying to solve
for a long time. For at least 6 months i have noticed that when i open a bunch of jpegs, that they open soooo slow and as i scroll from one to the next, each image opens in blocks from the top to the bottom until it finally opens after
a few seconds.
I tried all kinds of fixes such as repair permissions, dumping the pref files for preview, force quitting. I didnt reinstall preview which with hindsight may have fixed the probelm however i will tell you what i did that immediately solved the
issue.
I simply selected preview in application, chose command "I" or apple "I "
and de selected "open in 32 bit mode"
I am stuffed if I know why it became selected in the first place. This macbook I use was bought by me brand new so no one else uses it.
Any way i hope it this info helps someone. I had been searching for this fix for a long time.
cheers
Mark

Every 64-bit application starts in 64-bit mode, thus it is selected. I presume you have Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard on your MacBook?

Btw, what file size do those .jpg images have?
