Preview using a lot of RAM (over 1gb)

Ive got only got one 38mb PDF open, and the amount of RAM used by Preview is over 1gig! No idea why its using so much RAM for just one pdf.

Anyone else experienced this with Preview, or know how to reduce the RAM usage?

I've also noticed this and that transitioning between pages/images is very slow and unresponsive. My only idea is to switch Preview to open up in 32-bit mode as 64-bit basically just gives it the ability to use more memory.

Ive tried using 32bit mode for Preview.app but it still climbs to over 800mb.

Then I tried resaving the pdf using Preview, and then the RAM usage dropped to about 400mb.

I think its one particular PDF im having issues with. Other PDFs seem to be OK using about 100mb RAM.
