1920 x 1200 optional res for 17" MBPro

can someone give me a preview of how these res look like when compared with eachother?
Im inbetween the 15" and the 17" MBPro!

go to dell.com and look at their different desktops.

also, do a search for the resolution on google and the word "desktop" or "screenshot"

Actually i was hoping anyone who had 15" and 17" (+ the optional display that came out now) could make a few screenshots to compare!
i didnt find my way through the dell site nor google!!

I have a brand new 15" 2.4 SR MBP and am expecting an old 2.33 17" MBP to come back from repair in the next few days, so I'll take some shots for you if no one else does first. I won't be able to help out with the 1080p resolution on the new 17" MBP though...

Cool, thanx. I just hope u get it back soon, cause im on the edje for making that order and this screenshot thing will really help me decide, especially on the optional resolution the 17" has!

Thanx desk but prefer to see a desktop print screen so i can judge especially for the 17" optional display the looks of its menu n stuff which all say its very very small at that resolution!

then you need to be physically looking at the display. It's not the resolution that makes the menubar small so much as the pixels per inch of the display. Cramming that many pixels in a 17" display makes stuff look smaller. Compare that to the 20" (or 23, whatever that has the same resolution), the 17"'s data will look smaller.

i agree with desk003. i have the hi-res display and i also had a 1920x1200 screen on a 15.4" widescreen compaq in the past.

since you can change the size of the icons, and the dock, you it really a personal decision

I don't have a MBP but I generated some fake screen shots for you to look at. Posting full resolution screen shots won't allow you to compare anything so I resized them proportionally. Each is 72dpi and the correct physical dimensions for each screen. Hope this helps.

The google window and the dock size did not change from screen shot to screen shot. The google window was always 1062 pixels x 772 pixels to give you a sense of scale.

If it's not obvious they're in order (1920, 1680, 1440).

thanx panoz7, but i really prefer the original thing, can someone with any MBPro (15" or 17") post a screen capture please?

come on guys all it takes is a command+shift+3 here and u can post it!!
plz help me out!

I'm not really sure what you're after here. The screen shots I took weren't from a MBP but that shouldn't matter. You're not going to be able to tell the difference between a 1920 x 1200 screenshot taken on an ACD and a 1920 x 1200 screenshot taken on a MBP... they look identical.

The chances of someone here having all three machines is almost none... well I guess this is MR so anything's possible, but I doubt it. If individual people post screenshots from real MBPs you're not going to be able to tell much since they might have the dock adjusted to different sizes and they might have different windows on the screen.

So why dont the screenshots of an ACD work for you mate? I think that was a fine post, otherwise go to an Apple Centre or reseller and check it out there..

Well its just that its too small to be true. I find it hard that Apple is putting out sutch resolutions that have problems. Of course u might be right but about the acd display that its the same proportionally when fit into a 17" but i guess i want to see the real thing. Unfortunatelly theres no apple store that has this optional 17" res display where im located so i can check it out! So plz plz if theres anyone with an optional res 17" MBPro plz post a screen shot!

Yes. I'm also very interested in a full resolution screenshot from an HD 17" so I can display it on my 1440x900 17" Powerbook and get an idea of what it's like.

All you have to do is press Command-Shift-3 and the screenshot will be saved to your Desktop.
