Previous TM backups...how to migrate to TC?

Well, the title pretty much asks the question. I used to do TM backup on an external HD but now I have TC, how do I integrate the copies on the external HD into TC?

Someone must have run into the same problem, right?

Try dropping your backup file into the Data folder on your Time Capsule.

Then setup the time machine to backup to the TC.

Done.

You sure that will work?

Well, I have the external HD connected to Macbook Air. And when I am on TM preference screen, click "Option", it shows "exclude these items from backups". My TM backup copy on external HD was initially on the list, but I took it off. Do you think that will do the migration? Or is it better to do it your way?
