Price: Buy a used MacBook pro 15, early 2011?

Hi all,
I encounter an offer of buying used early 2011 MacBook pro 15"
Here is the spec
2.3 Ghz i7
Hi-res Matte screen 1680x1080
Top spec with 512 SSD
Good condition

Which price do you think is a good deal? US$1000?
Or shall I go with a used 2012/2013 Retina 15" model instead? ( comes with USB 3)

I need one for photo and video editing and wonder which way is better.

It might be worth checking out the refurbished section of the Apple Store before buying second hand...the refurbs are fully warrantied, as new Macs and you you have to jump on them pretty quickly...they won't always have exactly what you want at any given time, so it's worth checking back on a daily basis.

Starting at $1000 is good. Don't go past 1300. Better yet, don't go past 1200. And at that high price the computer had better be in excellent shape.

I've been looking around CL for such a model at such a price. Found one (same as yours) for $900. Almost to good to be so low. And it's in a city that I don't really want to drive the distance to. bummer.
