I think Apple priced the 5c this way (like just about 100 bucks less than the 5s) to ensure that the customers will choose the 5s (their flagship phone) for the purpose of sales statistics. Logically, why would an average consumer choose the 5c when the 5s isn't far ahead by price. And when the 5s sells well, that's when they will lower the price of the 5c to let it catch up with sales. You wouldn't want 5c to outshine the sales of their flagship 5s would you?

I think it's a good strategy by apple, cos right now people are totally talking about getting the 5s over the 5c with the $100 price difference. I'm guessing by Feb next year, 5c prices will go down?
