Will there be a price drop of the current gen MBA around the time when the next gen comes out? (Hopefully this summer). I am looking to get a 13' Ultimate... but I don't NEED a new laptop now...

When the new one comes out, you can buy the current gen MBA from refurb store with a noticeable discount.

If you want a new one (ie complete with original box) take a look through the Clearance section after the update. (that section has always been empty every time i look though...)

I'm quite interested to see where the price on the refurb 11" "Ultimate" goes. Right now it's CND $1229, which is a nice $220 off retail, but I'd love to see it drop another $100 or $200. That would make it an awfully tempting buy, even if the current model lacks Thunderbolt.

Macmall just liquidated over 1000 11" MBAs via ebay.

They know something we dont know...

i mean microcenter is selling the new gen pros cheaper than apple but that doesn't mean something is on the horizon.

or does it? :p

Do you really think Macmall could have moved 1000 units in a few days for a mere $50 off. (Click the 1002 sold link).

They were $150 off, and many buyers had an additional 10% off coupon from ebay.

To me...that's dumping inventory. The only speculation is whether it was overstock or clearance for new product.

By noticeable like 300? or is that asking too much? If Lion comes out before the new MBA's, would the current gen. get Lion before they stop selling them? So then it would be possible to get a current gen. with Lion at a discount??

Just wanted to say that the price of the refurbish 13in Ultimate has drop to $1489. Do you think it will drop more?

yeah, almost all of the 2010 refurb MBAs dropped in price today. wasn't sure what that meant exactly, regarding the potential refresh date, etc.

i would think they would drop further still with a 2011 MBA release, but who knows.
