Hello,

I am going to be camping out at one of the apple stores. I want to be able to take a little as possible with me while camping out. I plan on just paying cash for the phone and want to have exact or just a little bit more. Can anyone tell me how much the exact price will be for the phone? Maybe someone whose card has already been charged for their phone. Thank you for your help.

Tax rates vary by city...so, you need to be more specific. Also, I heard Apple Stores act funny with cash for iPhones (I don't know if that's 100% true, maybe someone else could chime in?).

This is silly. $199 plus your tax rate in your area. Not that hard. Don't forget your carrier activation charge.

We don't know where you live or what carrier you use so we can't answer this, but this is like 5th grade math.

Multiply the cost of which version you're getting by your local sales tax rate then add it to the cost of the phone. Sales tax varies so you may not get a precise answer on here. I would recommend having extra cash on hand anyway.

I can tell you that you won't be able to buy a phone for cash at an Apple store.

They'll put the cash on a gift card then use it for the transaction.

Not sure where you're from but in MA, you get taxed based on the unsubsidized price of the phone. I believe this applies to CA as well.

Looks like OP is in Houston, but for anyone else reading, this is indeed true in CA.

Ipaid exactly 212 for mine

I paid $216 for one b/c I had a $30 VZW credit that negated the $30 upgrade fee.

Otherwise, it would've been $248.62 ($199 + $30 + $19.62). That's in MO.

why don't you pay with a cc?

Some people are so poor, they can not get one, and should not be getting an iphone5.

Some people just have bad credit.

Some can not handle a credit card.

Some just prefer not to use them (beyond my understand though)

I tried to pay cash for my iPhone 3 and they wouldn't let me. So much for Legal Tender...

When you buy with carrier ( AT&T , Verizon, Sprint ), they will plus tax with full price and minus $ 450 for 2 year activation.
Example : $649 + tax - $450 = your price
Will be around ~ $250
