Maybe this subject is considered not done...but here goes.

13" MBP 2018, maxed out except storage, which would make the difference in price even more extreme.

2100 euro in Japan (converted from Yen @ XE.com)
2850 euro in Germany/Holland etc.
(prices include taxes)

The difference is... insane.
Has it always been this extreme?

I guess you're talking about the 13", i7, 16GB, 512GB Model

It definately hasn't been always like this. I remember when the Euro price would equal the Dollar (i.e. when a MBP cost 2,000€ in the European stores it would cost 2,000$ in the American). Now the above mentioned model is priced at ~2,500$ which equals 2.135,90€.

EDIT: For everyone using Dollar: This means you'd have to pay 3.336,55 $ for the
13", i7, 16GB, 512GB Model

Yes, this was already discussed when the MBP 2018 prices came out. The situation for EU customers worsened considerably in the last years. On the contrary, with the current exchange rates, Japan is one of the most convenient countries to buy Apple hardware.

Now the above mentioned model is priced at ~2,500$

This price does not include Tax though.
You can add another $221.79 if you are living in New York for example. ($2,720.79, according to the store)

We are paying ~$2'814 in Switzerland.. looks like it is still almost the same price here. :)
