The other night I decided to "window shop" at the online apple store again, but this time with purpose. I BTO'd several systems, figured for tax and 512 upgrade from crucial. With this Total, I headed over to Xbench and divided buy a mean score of a similar machine (running panther, of course). What I found is pretty interesting.
Low Value to High Value:
Dualie G5 2.0..........~$13.00/point
Dualie G4 1.25..........~$12.15/point
Single G5 1.6..........~$12.00/point
emac 1.0..........~$10.50/point
The winner is...............
Single Powermac G4 1.25...........~$9.50/point
In fact, running xbench, the dualie G4 and the 1.6 G5 are only about 5-10% faster than the single 1.25.
Here's a question. How does the G4 1.25 do so well in this test? Isn't that 167 mhz bus a little slow for powermac'ing? Thx, Kuyu
