Print Problem: Icon works...File->Print does not

I'm having a strange printing problem that developed today, after working ok for a year. When I click on the Print Icon in Word, I can print my document with no problem. However, when I click on File->Print my iMac locks up and I need to go through the Force Quit process to end the application. This problem is on a shared HP Photosmart 2575 printer. The File->Print problem exits on other applications including Safari and TextEdit. Any thoughts? Thank you.
