Print Server with Deskjet 5740

Hi-

I have an iMac G5 2.0 GHz 512 RAM, OS X Tiger 10.4.2 and a USB HP Deskjet 5740 printer plugged into a print server on my network. The problem is that even though when I plug the printer in to the computer directly it works fine, it's not in the list of printers to add when selecting a driver for the print server. I've actually used the disc to try and get the driver now, but no such luck.

Any ideas?

if you log into the print server with safari, it'll show what printer you are supposed to pick for the mac. Somthing like Apple Laserwriter or something. Also, in some newer print servers you can turn on Bonjour (rendezvous) and it will show up automatically, without having to search the network.

The problem is that the company will not provide me the IP address for the server. I've read the instructions for the windows setup, and they have me picking the driver I would use if it were USB.

However, why didn't the HP deskjet 5740 show up in the list?
