Printer Being very weird

I have a 4 port USB hub so i can share my printer with my mac and PC. I also managed to fit the extention from the apple pro keyboards onto a regular USB cable. The extention has a little V on it so it wont fit on regular wires. Well Printing starts out fine on both computers normal speed. Then one the paper feeds and it starts to print the first line both os x and XP error and say some error about the printer. It does this when i have the modified apple extention USB cable on also. Do you think the hub is shot? It worked before when i had this setup... Ill try and mess around with it. Thanks
