printer not staying connected

Hello all,

Does anyone have any experience with their printer's not staying "connected"? I have a 2008 iMac and with two HP printers now have had issues printing. I generally have to unplug the power cable and or the USB cable in order to get my print job to go through. This is getting really old.

Anyone else seen this and know of a work around?
