Hi, there is a application that will remind you that the printer is still on whenever you log out or shut the computer down. Does anyone know where this is, I can not find it on apple's site anymore.

You don't need this. I am not sure that you even want it. A large percentage of the Mac userbase prints to networked printers which don't belong to any particular printer. A "Printer On" warning makes no sense in this case. In the case of many printers, you don't want to turn them off whether they are networked or not. The Xerox Phaser line falls into this group. The only benefit to shutting down a printer is to product it from poorly conditioned electric power. You are better off plugging your printer into a UPS.
 
I am the only person using this mac. I have a Inkjet printer and I have been told if you leave it on for a while it could be damaged.
