Printer Problems

I'm new to Mac, enjoying it, but when I try to print on my HP1000 I don't seem to have any options like I had on my PC. Such as different print speeds/quality choices etc. Can anyone tell me how to get these on the MAC. Do I need to get some special driver?

Try hp.com and see if they have a Mac specific driver/software. Some of the older HP printers came with two CDs, one Windows and one Mac.
