I have the Canon Pixma MP780. The printer works awesome. My question: "if I only print in greyscale, then why does my color ink eventually run out"? I only want to print in black. I do not want to print in color because the ink is expensive. Is there a way to only print in black without the color ink running out?

I know nothing about nothing but when I had a colour printer, I had two cartridges. I had one that was purely black ink and one that was colour ink. I barely ever printed in colour so I left the black cartridge in most of the time and replaced it with the colour cartridge when needed. Your printer may have separate cartridges for individual colours though... :)
