Printer rebate in different country?

Hi - I bought the MBP two weeks ago with an ipod touch but without a printer in the UK. Now, I would like to buy a printer in Germany and I was wondering if I could use the printer rebate there as well?

i.e. I would buy the printer in the German apple store and give them my MBP rebate identification from the UK (is it still the serial number?) and get the rebate credited to my German account.

Does anyone know whether this is possible?
