Hi.

So my problem is as follows.

I have a Mac Os X Server 10.6 that is sharing a printer to several clients most of which are Mac Os X 10.6. There isn't any issue with the 10.6 clients but clients running newer versions, 10.7 and 10.8 are just getting very limited functionality out of the shared printer. I'm not very experienced with Mac but my google searches have pointed to the problem being that the clients are getting the driver from the server and this limited functionality is normal when using drivers from older versions of Mac Os X.

So the main question is. Can I safely install the newer version of the driver on the Mac Os server 10.6 so the newer clients get the correct driver or am I risking problems with either the Server or the 10.6 clients?

Or if there are any other solutions you can point me to.

The reason this has become an issue now and why we need to have the printers shared from the server is because we are setting up Papercut to track printer usage and costs.

Thanks in advance for all you help.
