im planning on buying an imac g5 in a few weeks and i have an ibook running on panther...what is the best mid price scanner to buy?i also want to scan negatives

what is the best printer i can get , mid price that will print pictures and product catalogues nice?

is there any particular brand thats better than another eg. canon epson etc

All flatbed scanners do a really bad job of scanning negatives. If I were you I'd ask a camera shop to just scan and burn them for you, as negative scanners are expensive.

has anyone seen or tested or indeed have the canon pixma mp800?i can get what i think is a good deal - 250euro
what you guys think?

I have an HP ScanJet 4670 and it's spectacular! It's the kind that stands up, so it doesn't take up that much space. I think that it dropped from $150 to $100. It includes a negative scanner attachment.

I have an HP DeskJet 5940 and it's awesome as well! It is really fast with text, and it does very good quality (not great, but very good) 4x6's. Also, it can print a borderless 8.5x11" page. $100 as well.
