Hi, I installed leopard after upgrading the hard drive, didnt install any printer drivers, ive just found a 3gig printers folder in Library/Printers, whats happening?

Leopard installs roughly 3 gigs of printer drivers by default. There's a price to be paid for this "driverless" madness.
Reinstall, doing a custom install this time, and deselect everything you don't need – including the printer drivers.
