Hi all,

Machine spec
  • iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009)
  • Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • OS: High Sierra
I've got 4 printers connected to my computer for work purposes. 1 Lexmark, 2 Citizen and 1 Dymo.

I'm having problems with them all being connected at the same time since I've installed High Sierra, until now, I've not had an issue at all. It seems that I can install the Lexmark and the 2 Citizen printers but once I install the Dymo is deletes all the other printers but if I restart with the Dymo disconnected, then sometimes they show up.

When I open system preferences and click "Printers & Scanners", it hangs for a really long time, even if the printers do show up eventually.

I've tried reinstalling one at a time, uninstalling all of them, reset the printing system. I really can't figure it out.

If I've missed out any info or you have any questions that might help you understand the issue better, please ask.

Thanks for taking the time to read/help/reply.

Sounds as if the Dymo software is the issue. Are you installing the latest version (8.7.2)?

Yes, I'm running the latest version and have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled a few times!

Even spoke with them on the phone and tried their recommendations (not attaching the printer until asked to do so by the software and installing it first instead of last, as I was doing previously). Nothing has worked!

The one thing that hasn't been eliminated is the possibility that some other software on your Mac is causing this conflict to appear in your printing system.

First, try creating a new User Account and seeing if the problem persists when you're logged into it.

To totally eliminate the third-party software conflict possibility you'd have to try the printers on a clean install of macOS. If you have an extra external drive you could give this a shot without affecting your current system.

Connected how ?
USB
Wifi
Ethernet

--re-boot both devices between re-installs and check for new drivers.

Mac os will look but you may have to go get them at Apple.

I boot older mac systems from external disk for one photo scanner

Hardware solution : I have used a USB switcher in the past to use more than one printer.

but using a FIXED IP ethernet address for each printer ( HP ) works for me.

I have an iMac27 (High Sierra 10.13.6 ) with a Dymo LW400 ( 8.7.0.181 ) and multiple networked printers.
I only have the Dymo physically plugged into my computer.

The only issue I have is occasionally sending a document to the wrong printer and having to walk 200 feet instead of 20.
