Printing failure

Printing to my Lexmark C544dn laser printer failed with a 'Filter failed' message. Deleting the printer and putting it in as new, and also resetting the printer system and adding it back also failed. There are many other reports of printer failures in Apple discussions. This is a show stopper for me, so I will remain on Mojave unless it is fixed. Not buying another laser printer.
 
Connected via ethernet i presume. With the IP address?

I had to play around, ended up replacing a cable. Must even more sensitive. MS427dn Lexmark
