Hi--
I'm trying to get my 2TB AirPort Time Capsule set up so that I can print from my MBP at Starbucks (or elsewhere outside my home LAN) to my TC connected Brother HL-2270dw printer.

The printer is connected via USB to the TC, and the TC via ethernet to my modem (and also via ethernet to an Airport Express with speakers).

Is this possible? If so, how?

(More information:)

prisstratton has kindly implied in my previous thread (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1621300/) that it is possible, but in my setup of Airport Utility 6.3, there unfortunately appears to be no printer tab in the interface.

When trying to print from starbucks, the printer shows up in the printer utility as disconnected (this is also happening at other locations outside the LAN). I have, however, been able to easily print to the Brother printer via wifi on the LAN, and I can even access the disk of the TC at Starbucks/outside LAN and play music from it! I would think there must be a way to signal the TC from Starbucks to tell the printer to print a small word document?

Something tells me this might involve iCloud, MobileMe, Bonjour, IP addresses and ports/forwarding--all of which I know _nothing_ about. I will gladly be enlightened, though. Anyone have experience/knowledge about doing this?

Here is a link where you can download Airport Utility 5.6:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482

You can run both versions (6.3.1 and 5.6) alongside each other, I have been doing so ever since they changed the interface.

The screen shot I provided in your other thread was from version 5.6

Edit:

Ah ha! The procedure in the second thread you recommended works (applied to Airport Utility 6.3), and it works with either my TC or AE, alone or together. Since I work in scattered locations, this is like the best thing since sliced bread!

I don't know why this sort of thing isn't made more plug/play easy by apple and better advertised and discussed by more users...or maybe I've just been out of the loop.

Thanks a million prisstratton!
