I'm not sure where best to ask this. I have a similar thread on the autocad for mac forums on the autodesk site.
I'm getting beachballing when I use the 'save as pdf' option. Autocad freezes and I have to do a force quit of autocad to get out of it. Right clicking on the launch icon for autocad indicates the application is not responding.
As part of the page setup for autocad you have to choose a printer - I have a USB HP B8550 that I use for up to 11x17 dwgs, and a Xerox phaser I use for 8-1/2 x 11. To 'print' Architectural size drawings - normally D size (24x36) or E size (36 x48) you still have to have a printer selected and then create custom size paper for your printer. Up until last week there were no issues using the HP as a 'host' printer and then saving the print file as a PDF file. Something has changed and I can no longer save the pdf file without freezing the application.
I can preview the print job, it brings up an adobe preview window and the dwg just fine. That preview file can be saved through the adobe menu. I haven't tried forwarding one of those pdf files to the printer to see if the quality is ok or not (i've read that the quality of print is not particularly good doing this)

ETA: I did several things - 1.) changed the default preview from adobe to the OS/x preview.
2.) changed the printer in the page setup from the USB connected HP to an IP that is sometimes used by the Xerox Phaser. It changes IP on occasion so I keep the more common ones in the printers available list all setup and ready to go, I just have to change the default to the printer with the correct IP.
Preview works fine, looks a little cleaner than the Adobe preview, more importantly Autocad is not beachballing and freezing on me.
I still do not know why it was freezing on me though.
