Last week I downloaded the new epson drivers for my 2200, v8.12 for snow leopard. Both elements 8 and CS2 printed perfectly. I had to order additional ink as I ran out of one of the colors so I did not print for several days. I noticed a software update from Apple earlier this week and one of the three updates was a printer driver. Now I can't get elements 8 or CS2 to print correctly. The driver version now shows 8.17. The Epson website still shows 8.12 as the current driver. I tried to download the 8.12 driver and the iMac will not let me install it. It will not allow me to enter my password and says I need administrator rights or above. I am the administrator. I spoke with applecare and they could not figure out what is happening as my password is good. When everything was working last week the settings I used in elements 8 were:
in edit, color setting - no color management
print, more options, color management, color handling, let elements manage color,
Printer profile. working RGB - imac, and rendering intent, relative colormetric
In the print dialog, print settings, media type, ultra premium photo paper luster, color settings off (no adj), photo 1440dpi and high speed off.
As i Mentioned this worked perfectly last week. Now if I select preview, nothing shows, only a blank screen and nothing prints.
CS2 will print with the same settings and also shows me additional Epson icc profiles other than the standard ones including 1440 pk, 1440 mk, and SP for all paper types however, the prints are not right. They are either too dark or the colors are not quite right.
Is there any way I can get rid of the printer driver that came down with the software update and go back to the previous driver. I've tried deleting the printer and re-adding but to not avail. After deleting the printer I also tried to re-install the download for the previous driver but to no avail. Any ideas?
