Hello all:

I am a new Mac user and have a networking problem I hope someone can help with. I have a small network and use a WD Netcenter as an external drive and a printer server. It works great with the PCs, but I recently bought a Macbook and have been having problems. I can connect the MB to the shared drive, but when I try to print I get an error message. The WD site notes that Macs can only recognize printer names of 13 characters or less and the drive often generates names that are longer than that, making it impossible to recognize the printer. It notes that this will be taken care of by occasional firmware updates, but it looks like this isn't a priority and no updates are available to take care of the issue. Having to constantly unplug the printer from the drive and plug it into the Mac is a pain in the neck. Any workaround ideas? Many thanks!
