printing via airport express

I just got my new airport express and setup my new network.
The internet over the network works fine, but the printer seems to be giving some trouble. I have an HP Deskjet D2360 (D2300 series) which runs just fine when its directly connected to my iMac 20". However over the network it refuses to print, even though it has been detected by the airpot base station and shows up in system preferences as well as in airpot utility.
Any help from the experts for this one? Thanks in advance folks.

Is the printer switched on when you click print?

I've got an Airport Express and my HP printer doesn't turn on automatically when I print something. I have to switch it on manually then it starts to print.
