What’s the general consensus regarding this feature when it comes to the experts that know way more than me about the camera in the iPhone? I keep reading mixed things about whether this setting should be enabled or disabled for best picture quality performance.

Disabled on my phones. I rarely use my camera, but when I do, i want my photos to be as good as possible. Prioritizing faster shooting decreases image quality.

I think this only affects it if you press shutter for rapid shots, but not for a typical take one pic shot.

Keywords here are "rapidly tap the shutter button"

I normally have it off, but it's really in how you use your phone. I was at an event this past weekend where I needed to take a lot of very quick action photos in a late evening low light situation, so I enabled it, but otherwise it's just reducing the quality of your photos unnecessarily.

I’ve done tests with it on and off, rapid fire took pictures, and compared them.

I could not for the life of me find any differences. So I’ve just left it on in the odd event something crazy happens and I need to take lots of pics quick.

Who knows, you may be right !
I recall watching a YT video when that option was introduced and the reviewer said that the quality decreases.
After that, I disabled it and never looked into it again.

From my research, it looks like this option only kicks in when you’re capturing multiple shots quickly and does not affect the quality of using the camera normally.
