Not sure it this should go here or in iOS, but we have an iPhone with an unreliable charging port and we are looking for a Qi charger that can charge the device without people being able to see alerts and messages pop up.

Maybe a qi that works with the screen facing down? Or an app that blacks the screen or an iPhone setting that doesn't show any alerts when charging but still vibrates?

Could you not turn the phone upside down and place the Qi charger on top?

You can just buy a charger and have your phone face down and the charger on top of it.....

Snap!!!

LOL yes, we actually tried this with a Samsung and an Anker disk charger and both of the MicroUSB ports died. I was hoping for a more sustainable solution.

You can set the phone so that notification previews are not shown when the phone is locked. Perhaps this would be suitable. https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/hide-text-preview-ios-11/

Unless I am doing it wrong, this still shows notifications, it just doesn't show the content.

You're correct, you can tell that an email or text has come through, but cannot see any contents.

It's fine if there is an alert but it still shows the persons name. We work with sensitive clients and being able to see who sent a message or what the names are on a calendar alert could cause significant issues.

Just out of curiosity, how were you able to guarantee privacy when using a charging cable and why is that method not an option with a wireless charger?

Edit:
Let me clarify this - you make it sound like someone seeing even the names of people contacting you could be really bad. If this is a real concern, having your phone screen-down on the table while charging from a cable doesn't strike me as a particularly effective way to maintain privacy and security.

If it's a real concern I'd turn off notifications on lock screen entirely and enable the "LED flash for alerts" option under Accessibility so that you know when there's a notification.
