Just wondering, should I get a privacy screen for the iPhone 4? It covers the screen, so should also prevent scratches right? Or does it not really protect it?

It is a film that is applied to the screen, just like the clear kind. It protects, with the addition of hiding the screen at certain viewing angles. For maximum screen protection you need a thermoplastic urethane film like the Zagg invisible shield, however, it hinders the clarity of the screen due to an 'orange peel' effect, so I wouldn't personally recommend it for the screen. I use the Zagg shield on the back of my phone, and the Power Support Crystal film on the front. The PS crystal film doesn't protect as well and it gets scratched up, but if it's perfectly applied to a clean screen, it looks and feels like glass.

Power Support (3G/S screen film will work fine for now, but the iPhone 4 version should arrive soon)
