private browsing on facebook

Every time i turn on private browsing in safari, websites such as facebook won't let me log in. Is there a way to turn on private browsing while still enabling cookies or whatever it is that's required to log into websites such as facebook? Even if I'm logged in and I turn on private browsing it eventually kicks me off and asks me log back in. Can you tweek the settings of private browsing to make this work? Thanks
