My Macintosh HD is overloaded with asl files that keeps multiplying. There are in a group called "wheel" and file type is document. Is this some type of virus because it just keeps increasing.

download an app called disk inventory x. that will help. i had same problem once.
 
You have a runaway log file. Delete the offending log, then restart your Mac. If that doesn't clear up the problem, let us know.
