Private viewing safari ipad

I can't turn on private browsing in safari on my ipad running iOS 7.1.2. It's not in the bottom left corner of the window like some sites say it should be. It's not in the bookmarks folder like other do or brought up by tapping on the address window. Any help is appreciated.

Do you have any tabs open? I don't believe you will see it unless you close all tabs.

Just tried it with tabs closed. Still not in bottom of safari window or in bookmark folder..
